Monumental Woes

I tell everyone I meet to read my blog; and then I can’t write dick on it for fear of offending them or tipping them off. Christ.

Well, that is okay, a watered-down blog and no real confidantes in my life.

I pray that this changes when I am down at the little gallery for 6 weeks. As soon as I get some sanity back, I will go there a lot.

Despite poverty I am buying supplies for teaching mosaics, towers, decoupage. Don’t really want to teach leaded/stained glass. I’ll have to buy many solder irons, glass cutters, this costs a mint. I only use the best. Could always fob off some lousy tools on my students. NO.

Hi, I am Claire Montrose, crab, artist, mother, goat-keeper. Below is a photo of me in January, 2010. My children are Seattle sceniacs Ian and Tatiana. Tats has a wonderful blog on this and told me about it. I’m 63, soon to be older. Please see my website www.clairemontrose.com. I am also on Etsy under the store name Collectibella. I was a slightly famous artist in Yucca Valley, Ca., and my cross bottles are all over the country. Now I live in downtown Port Orchard, Washington, and this is all about being closer to my kids.

I was born Karen Tanya Kraft, in Phoenix. My father’s family was in Alaska and we lived there for several years. I came to Seattle for college and graduated from U.W. in 1968, in English. I also had the name Diana Babbitt, a family name, during the 1980’s. I dropped both the names Kraft and Babbitt as I learned about unpleasant things my parents had done, and I wished to dissociate myself from them.

Among other things, my blog is my attempt to tell the story of my childhood, publicly, for the first time. It could also be said to deal with the theme of “the management of a spoiled identity”, and the emotional and spiritual repercussions from a disastrous childhood.
